11+ English Intensive (Years 4 & 5)

The natural companion to our 11+ Maths Intensive, this course is designed for Year 4 and Year 5 students preparing for selective independent and grammar school entrance examinations.

Across each five-day block, students develop the key English skills needed for 11+ success: comprehension, inference, vocabulary, spelling, grammar, and creative and persuasive writing. Lessons are built around exam-style passages and timed writing tasks, helping students improve both accuracy and confidence under test conditions.

The sessions will also be framed through the lens of the writer’s craft, using extracts of famous literature and non-fiction texts, thus preparing them for the curriculum they will encounter in secondary school.

Students receive regular feedback on their written work, with a focus on structure, expression, vocabulary choice, grammar and clarity. Many families choose to pair this course with the 11+ Maths Intensive in the same week to cover both papers before the autumn exam season.

Students attending both Maths and English for the full day should bring a packed lunch.
